This compound was built in the Qing dynasty and is a typical quadrangle compound with two separates courtyards in the front and back respectively. Both the front and back courtyards have three main suites, aisle rooms on the left and right as well as wing-rooms on the east and west. The roof preserved to this day was built in the Qing dynasty, featuring an architectural style of hard top pantile ridge crest.

It was said that Lilianying,a famous Qing dynasty eunuch, once lodged here. Zhangzizhong, a patriotic general, who was also lodged here. After liberation, this place was taken over by the National Women's Association. After that, such senior officers as Shuaimengqi, Dengyingchao and Kangkeqing had handled official business here.

In 1998, governor of Hongkong Weiyixin had a rest here during his stay in Beijing. During British PM Blair's visit to China in 1999, Mrs. Blair threw a cocktail party here, which added to Haoyuan Hotel's international fame. (source: www.haoyuanhotel.com)
